"Keep the Change"

Today, it's time to address the subject of sharing. David and I, after some very heavy discussion, have come to the conclusion that the world has become significantly less generous. "People are so unjustly cruel, now-a-days, and don't share," David so kindly confided.

Now, am I talking about sharing your McDonald's (Like any decent, just human being would)? No. You can get even more simple than that. It is as easy as: "Keep the change." I mean, seriously, what is wrong with that? You might say: "Well, Sarah, it's not like I'm one of the richest people in the world." I would never expect you to be... But if you are going out to eat, obviously you must have some money to spare!

Here is my challenge: Next time you go out to eat, show your thanks for a person's service. "Keep the change!" - And make it a $50.

  1. How about this Sarah. Someone is waiting in the Express Lane to check out with a basket that probably has at least the limit or more and another person comes up behind without a cart holding 2 items and seems distressed.... Should you 1) say I was here first and I deserve to be checked out first. 2) ignore anyone else around you and proceed as planned. or 3) Step aside and let the other person holding the 2 items in front of you. Chances are you will get out of the store just as fast if you change places. I've been on both sides of this issue and have appreciated and seen appreciation when kindness was shown.

  2. This is David, the co-conspirator. I would have to say that personally, I would step aside and let the person past. I have done this before, and it has happened before with me. I think that 1) its the right thing to do and 2) you'll earn bonus points with whomever is watching. That's just my opinion.

  3. I, too, would let the person with the lesser items go ahead of me. I am of the opinion that one should treat others as you would want to be treated when in the same situation. I also believe that showing a little kindness can spread, so I'm all for that!
